At FDIC International 2025, our team was energized by the shift we saw across the fire service and public safety technology landscape. Held in Indianapolis, Indiana, this year’s event brought together innovators, manufacturers, and leaders from across the industry—and the message from the field was clear: public safety needs partners, not just products.
The Emergent team spent much of their time participating in the NextGen Fire Rescue Tech Summit, where we saw firsthand the evolution of how software and data providers are approaching public safety.
A Turning Tide for Public Safety SaaS
There’s a noticeable (and welcome) shift happening in the fire service technology space. For too long, departments have been burdened by a fragmented SaaS model that prioritizes profit over partnership. From data locked behind paywalls to vendor ecosystems that actively discourage integration, the result has been siloed systems, duplicated effort, and rising operational costs with unclear value. Many providers have adopted an à la carte approach to software and services, forcing agencies to piece together their tech stack at a premium, often without the cohesion or support they truly need.
But the fire service is speaking up—and their message is clear: they want collaborative partners, not just software vendors. They need connected systems that work together seamlessly, not isolated tools that compete for attention. They expect transparency in pricing, flexibility in deployment, and technology that delivers real-world impact, not just data dashboards.
That demand for open, integrated, and outcome-driven solutions is exactly what Emergent is built for. We're proud to be leading this shift—partnering with departments, manufacturers, and innovators to deliver systems that reduce complexity, empower frontline crews, and bring clarity and command to every response.
From Talk to Action: Building Real Tech Partnerships
Across FDIC, we connected with forward-thinking organizations like NextNav, 3AM Innovations, MappedIn, and innovation programs like NIST PSCR. These groups, like Emergent, are leaning into a model where shared data, interoperability, and prioritized communications are the standard, not the exception. Whether it’s life-saving devices, in-cab intelligence, or real-time fleet insights, the momentum is growing for tech partners who help agencies make sense of their data and take action in the moment.
A Stronger Public Safety Ecosystem
This year at FDIC, we saw the fire service’s priorities reflected loud and clear: Shared technology, reduced operational complexity and real solutions, not shiny demos.
Emergent’s focus remains on clear data and clear command. Emergent is doubling down on what we do best: connecting vehicle data, responder data, and device data into a single operational view, delivering real-time fault alerts, checklists, inspections, and readiness insights and reducing friction for frontline crews and command staff alike.
We’re proud to be part of this next chapter—alongside our partners, our customers, and a growing community of innovators who believe public safety deserves best-in-class tools that work together. Learn more about how we are driving change forward today.
